What a truly marvelous Christmas Eve it has been. I will never forget the kind gesture of that young couple from Victoria with their beautiful baby. It has caused our hearts to sing--Thank-you to all of our lovely friends and customers who have brought gifts and wishes and snacks (ooh, the snacks!) over this Christmas Season.

This is one gorgeously presentable web-design and site! Thank-you, Alanah!

I'm hoping now and then to give the readers a book review or two and the Gallowglass Recommended Reading List posting is en-route. I would like to say that I've read everything in the store, but I'm only in my late 40s, and darn-it people are always bringing in new stock! Who can keep up?! Still, I suppose there's time enough.

I'm presently reading the poetry of Charles Baudelaire (1821 to 1867 and no relation to the Snickett's Baudelaires) in dual-language French and English. A lovely and penetrating translation by Joanna Richardson, published in 1976 by Penguin.

"They go before me, Eyes most radiant / no doubt magnetic made by Angels wise/ they go, these heavenly kin which are my kin / and cast their diamond brightness in my eyes."

"Ils marchent devant moi, ces Yeux pleins de lumieres / qu'un Ange tres-savant a sans doute aimantes / Ils marchent, ces divins freres qui sont mes freres / secouant dans mes yeux leur faux diamantes."

Bye for now, Richard on staff.
